Wraparoche brioche cowl – pdf knitting pattern

As comforting to knit as it is to wear, this cowl makes an elegant, unfussy, naturally shaped layer that will tuck under your coat or ride on top of it with equal ease. It is designed for about 200 g of yarn in any weight (shown in heavy worsted weight). Specific instructions are given for fingering, sport and worsted weight yarns, with full details on how to calculate stitch counts for any other gauge. 

Charted as well as written instructions are provided. Tutorials are included for two-colour cast-on and cast-off techniques.

Difficulty: Intermediate

Skills used: Two-colour braided cast-on (tutorial included), working in the round, brioche rib, brioche increasing and decreasing, two-colour brioche cast-off (tutorial included).

Size: 
Approx 51 cm / 20 in around at top, unstretched; 24 cm / 10 in high

You will need:
200g yarn in any gauge – 100g in each of two colours. 
Sample uses Wolff & Schafe Romulus (100% merino; 166m / 181 yards per 100g skein): 1 skein in Barbara (BC) and 1 skein in Rose Quartz in Ice (FC), with 5mm / US8 needle. 

Circular needle 40 cm / 16 in long (or your preferred needles for working small circumferences in the round) in a suitable size to achieve a pleasant fabric, not too stiff, in your chosen yarn.
