This course shows you how to sew a variety of houses and make this stunning Little Amsterdam quilt top with the help of a series of step-by-step tutorial videos. You start with the easy technique and progress to the more complicated one.
The lessons are broken down into 14 weeks, just like in the original quilt along, held during the summer of 2023. However, you can decide whether to follow the original schedule or do it at your own pace.
You are not alone in this journey. Maria will help you with all your questions. You can also feel the support of other quilters and see their quilt when you join our private Little Amsterdam Facebook group .
You will need to purchase the Little Amsterdam quilt pattern to have the templates, measurements and fabric requirements! The lessons do not contain the quilt pattern. You can purchase the quilt pattern in our shop.

This quilt pattern is for the confident beginner and advanced quilter.
The quilt size is 72" x 72".
You can pick and mix your houses to create a smaller quilt. We'll give you ideas on alternative layouts.
This timeless quilt was designed by North Sea Quilters (Marybeth Tawfik, Leslie Carol Taylor, Maria Lazane Bihari) and won the first prize in the long-arm quilting category in Waalre, The Netherlands, in 2007.
"Little Amsterdam" was the first pattern of North Sea Quilters. Since then, many quilters have enjoyed making the "Little Amsterdam" quilt pattern, some in the live classes Maria taught with Leslie.
Though we live in different countries now, our friendship is very precious to us. Last year, we worked together on publishing the new PDF downloadable pattern to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Little Amsterdam.
This summer (2003) we organised a 14- week-long quilt along. Quilters from all over the world joined and made their own interpretation of the quilt following the step-by-step video instructions.
Now, you can access the same teaching videos as a course and make the quilt in your own time.

- Selection of fabrics for the quilt;
- Sewing machine;
- Sewing tools;

I love teaching patchwork and sharing the joy of quilting.
I have been quilting for 25 years, and I have been teaching patchwork and quilting for half of these years.
My "official" quilting career started in 2007, when Marybeth Tawfik, Leslie Carol Taylor, and I set up North Sea Quilters in The Netherlands.
I continued teaching patchwork and quilting when I moved to Hungary and founded the Budapest Quilt Studio.
I live in the UK now. This year I set up MB Quilt Studio with my friend, Barbara Dornyi, to teach online patchwork and quilting classes.
This "Little Amsterdam" quilt along was our first online event and now you can experience it as an online course.
It's a tribute to this timeless quilt and my time with North Sea Quilters.
