I first envisioned this 2-sided cowl design while working through some personal challenges. I began thinking of how we carry ourselves in the presence of others. It’s entirely possible to have a bright exterior while simultaneously working through inner struggles, or vice versa.

THE WHOLE STORY is a physical manifestation of these contrasting yet coexisting feelings. The light and dark colors use the same eyelet pattern, effortlessly overlapping and providing glimpses of one color from the other. Like many of my designs, this is completely reversible and has thoughtful finishing and proportions. We all have light and dark moments, and we get to choose how and when we share with others.

This pattern is offered for free as a way for me to share a bit of my story with you. If you feel so inclined, make a donation—either monetary or a donation of your time—to a cause related to your whole story.

YARN

This design uses both a fingering weight yarn and a laceweight yarn with high contrast between the 2 colors. Fingering or laceweight yarn can be used for either color.

TIP: use the sturdier yarn for C2, as this yarn is used for grafting.

C1: Malabrigo Silkpaca Lace, 70% Baby Alpaca, 30% Silk, 420 yd / 385 m per 50 g

C2: Blue Moon Fiber Arts La Luna Lace, 85% Merino Wool, 15% Silk, 480 yd / 439 m per 100 g

Sample shown in C1: Polar Morn, 277 yd / 253 m (33 g), C2: Blue is the New Black, 322 yd / 294 m (67 g)

If using fingering weight yarn for both colors, approximately 325-350 yd / 297-320 m of each color required.
