The people in the room are your students, and your job is simple: they should leave knowing something worth knowing, and knowing what to do with it.

I've run thousands of workshops.

My Everyday Communication workshop has repeatedly won best-workshop awards at conferences. For a while I assumed that was down to charm.

Then I realised I don't have much of that. So something else must be going on.

When I took my approach apart, I found it wasn't really about personality at all.

It was structure. Preparation. Clarity of thought. Communication. Attention. And, above everything else, a relentless focus on whether the students were actually learning.
