🌱 The Gardening Project
A whole-term learning adventure
Children don’t just plant a seed and wait for it to grow.
They become young garden investigators.
The group is divided into 4 teams, each with a different growing challenge:
🌱 Steady Team — follows the standard growing conditions and acts as the control group.
🌑 Shade Team — keeps its seed in a shaded area.
💧 Splash Team — gives its seed extra water.
☀️ Sunny Team — places its seed in the sun.
Over the following days and weeks, children care for their plants, observe what happens and compare the results.
They begin asking real questions:
Which plant grew the most?
Which looks healthiest?
What happened in the shade?
What happened with extra water?
What differences can we see between the teams?
Children observe, compare, discuss and record what they discover as the experiment develops.
Along the way, they also explore:

✔ Growth and change
✔ Nature
✔ Composting
Children return to the project over time, making observations and recording discoveries in their hands-on Project Journals.
The project can continue across an entire term, giving educators an ongoing learning experience rather than a one-off gardening activity.

The learning doesn’t finish when the seed is planted. That’s where the investigation begins.
♻️ The Recycling Project
Children become Material Hunters, Sorting Stars and Recycling Detectives as they explore paper, cardboard, plastic and metal.
They:
✔ Find and investigate real materials
✔ Sort and compare them
✔ Explore texture and material properties
✔ Discover how everyday objects can be reused
✔ Create something new from recycled materials
✔ Record their discoveries in hands-on activities and Project Journals
Then the project moves into music.
Children build their own recycled instruments and become part of a children’s orchestra.
The educator can use the music and conductor resources to lead the group:

Silence.
Then laughter.
