Lesson_65_Josephs_Coat
We are officially entering the final, massive narrative arc of Genesis: The Story of Joseph! Jacob has settled in
Canaan, but he repeats the exact same catastrophic parenting mistake his own parents made: blatant
favoritism. Jacob openly loves Joseph (Rachel's firstborn) more than his 10 older brothers, gifting him an
incredibly expensive, ornate coat. To make matters worse, Joseph has two prophetic dreams (sheaves of wheat
bowing down, and the sun/moon/stars bowing down to him). When he naively shares these dreams with his
family, it ignites a murderous, toxic jealousy in his older brothers. Today, we will recreate the dreams, analyze
the destructive nature of favoritism, and look at Joseph as a theological 'Type' of Christ.
