Waller Jive
Here's a fun, little piece which for Fats was probably just a bit of a throwaway recording space-filler but in his hands that still means gold!
It's basically a 12-bar blues based on a repeating commonly-used riff that Fats would often play, especially at the end of a musical phrase for example.
N.B. Play the first chord/interval of the "triplet roll" together with the left-hand bass note even though it appears notationally they are not played together. This was a notation choice that I made for the ease of readability. (As the digital notation playback is on a "swing" setting, they play together anyway which is what I intended and which is how Fats swings it.)
You could play this as a little warm-up piece or even a technical exercise and it would be a good opportunity to use the final 4 bars after each 12-bar sequence as an opportunity to add your own musical version!
