Flying Foxes and Fruit Bat Sounds
Just before sunrise in the quiet town of Pine Creek in Australia’s Northern Territory, we recorded thousands of flying foxes returning from their night flights and settling into the trees above. The soundscape is filled with screeching calls, squabbles, and the heavy flap of wings as the colony comes to rest. Captured in a small public park, these recordings also include subtle layers of early morning life such as distant roosters, passing cars, and barking dogs. The result is a wild and slightly eerie atmosphere grounded in real rural surroundings. Perfect for wildlife projects, documentaries, or sound design that calls for natural tension and authentic Australian ambience.
