Trombone: the trombonist requires a bucket mute and a cup mute (or mutes of similar effect).

When the cup mute is in use, additional directions such as ‘nasal’ and ‘dark

muffled sound’ are indicated in the score (see bars 114 – 118, trombone part).

This is to inform the trombonist of the various desired cup-mute effects.

Percussion I: tam-tam and temple blocks. Percussionist I requires 1x tam-tam mallet;

1x double bass bow; 2x hard-headed mallets.

Percussion II: bass drum and temple blocks. Percussionist II requires 2x bass drum mallet;
