"Notation:

Open form notation. Black note heads are shorter than white note heads, grace notes are as

fast as possible.

In most sections, play as much or as little of your material as you wish (even just one hand if you like).

N.B.: in some sections, you are asked to play the notes in the order they appear. In general, you can repeat

material if you want. N.B.: please watch out for 8vb and 8va clefs and directions, which indicate registral shifts.

Light cues:

Play material according to the colour of the lights in the hall. See table of the pieces structure

above. For example, when all lights are purple, the group of six Bostons do not play.

Everyone plays the same material when the lights are blue. At the end of this ‘blue’ section, the lights will turn red.

At this point, stop playing your material, but leave the sustain pedal depressed for the resonance and duration of

the Bach transcription, which will be performed on the two Steinway Ds (grands) only.

As the lights fade to darkness (after the Bach has been performed), very slowly lift your foot off the sustain pedal.
