This research study aims to examine the relationship between the voting process and electoral outcomes in Nigeria, with a focus on assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the existing system and identifying potential areas for improvement. The study presents the problem statement, highlighting the need for in-depth research to understand how the voting process influences electoral outcomes. Specifically, the research aims to identify and analyze the different voting systems employed in Nigerian elections; evaluate the impact of voting systems on key electoral outcomes, such aslegal framework, Election Representatives, voters’ registration, acceptability of ballot, party funding and campaign, and voter turnout; to explore in what way(s) INEC is structurally dependent and how such dependence impacted on the conduct of elections in Nigeria; provide insights and recommendations for improving the electoral system in Nigeria based on the findings.
