A philosophy professor, standing in front of his class, took a five-liter glass jar and filled it with rocks, each at least 3 cm in diameter. At the end, he asked the students if the jar was full.

They answered, "Yes, it was full."

Then he opened a jar of peas and poured them into the big jar, shaking it a little. Naturally, the peas took up the empty space between the rocks. Once again the professor asked the students, was the jar full?

They answered, "Yes, now it's full."

Then he took a box filled with sand and poured it into the jar. Naturally, the sand took up all the empty space that existed and covered everything up. Once again, the professor asked the students if the jar was full.

They answered, "Yes, and this time unequivocally, it is full."

Then he pulled two more cans of beer out from under the table and poured every last drop into the can, soaking up the sand. The students laughed. Now I want you to understand that the jar is your life, the rocks are the most important things in your life: family, health, friends, your children - all the things you need to keep your life full even if everything else is lost; the peas are the things that have become important to you personally: work, home, car; the sand is everything else, the little things.

If you fill the jar with sand first, there will be no room left where the peas and stones can be placed. And also in your life, if you spend all your time and all your energy on the little things, there is no room left for the most important things. Do the things that bring you happiness: play with your children, spend time with your spouse, go out with friends. There will always be time to work, clean the house, fix and wash the car. Get your rocks first, that is, the most important things in life; set your priorities: the rest is just sand.

The professor smiled. I'm glad you asked me that. I did it just to prove to you that no matter how busy your life is, there's always room for a couple of beers.
