The Lord of the Rings Hat Collection
“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”
— JRR Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
The Lord of the Rings was my introduction to epic fantasy. The story has never lost its luster for me – I never get tired of re-reading the books or marathoning the movies, and I probably never will. So, when I had this idea for a set of designs inspired by Tolkien’s famous poem, I just couldn’t wait to dive into the details of the story to create something new.
This collection includes 4 hats, each of which is inspired by a line from the poem above and features a design with the number of rings mentioned in the line:
- Three Rings for the Elven-Kings, an intricate elven beret
- Seven for the Dwarf-Lords, a dwarven helm in runic cables
- Nine for Mortal Men, a slouchy cabled hat calling back to Men’s history in Tolkien’s Middle-Earth
- One for the Dark Lord, a hat encircled by the One Ring and topped with an Eye of Sauron pompom
These patterns have all been tech edited and test knit.
