Sorrento is a great city to use as a base of exploration along the Amalfi Coast. When we stayed in Sorrento I loved walking past the beautiful Judas Tree; the blossoms seem to grow right from the trunks!

Yarns Used In Sorrento

Sorrento Layered Cowl incorporates the texture, layering, and shadowing of those blossoms.

Veri-Peri  This was made using Piano del Sorrento.  This lightweight version in lilac mimics the color of the blossoms on the tree in Sorrento.  The structure is made from Serenity (100% cashmere) from Anzula Luxury Fibers and is trimmed in their Breeze, both in the color Prince.  The feather-light mohair layers are knitted in Loft from Neighborhood Fiber Co in Sandtown-Winchester.  All very 2022 Color-of-the-Year, Veri Peri!

Worked in the round, this cowl (fits around the neck, then drapes down over the shoulder) changes needle size to keep growing without changing stitch counts after some initial increases. Make Sorrento using a single color, more than one color, a single type of yarn, or multiple yarns.

Lucero  This version uses the same yarn throughout, in two colors  I love the peek of contrasting color, but it isn’t necessary.

How to Make a Tee Shirt Look Fabulous

Pop Sorrento or on and even a very casual tee looks special.  I particularly like this for traveling as I can pop it on for a totally different outfit!  This is a perfect when you need to stretch a limited number of clothes, and it is perfect for warding off a sudden breeze or air conditioning.

Make Using Sorrento Written Pattern in DK

Lucero is the main yarn in the other version.  A size M used approximately 109g / 239 yds (219 m) of the main color and the contrast used approximately 20g / 44 yds (40 m).  You can use fingering or sport, it will just vary the size and amount of yarn needed.  Change the needle sizes if needed.

Total Model in a single color: 129g / 283 (259 m).

Make From Incomplete Skeins Using Piano Del Sorrento

The Veri-Peri Sample is a size M, and weighs 70 grams!  Most of the weight is from Serenity (there is a little left from a 50g skein).  The Breeze is a negligible amount of a 100g skein of lace weight silk and linen.  The Loft layers used yarn left from a ballet cardigan (seriously, it is hard to use up lace weight mohair!).
