Quantum Clouds: An Assessment

This edition provides a survey of selected quantum computing clouds that are available globally. From the perspective of the scientists residing in the West, the coverage of the major clouds seeks to be as comprehensive as possible. First, the quantum computing cloud extensions offered by the most predominant multinational cloud providers are presented, these being AWS Amazon Braket, Microsoft Azure Quantum, IBM Quantum and Google Quantum AI. The presentation of each cloud provides some basic information on the use and characteristic features of the cloud service in question, in addition to which a simple Grover’s algorithm is executed on an actual quantum device made available by IBM Quantum. In addition to the most predominant multinational cloud providers, which with the exception of AWS Amazon Braket, are also quantum chip manufacturers, two smaller scale specialised quantum computing cloud providers are also featured. These include Xanadu and Strangeworks, which are distinct from each other.
