TME Intermediate Hockey Years 5–6 | Ages 9–11 | Upper KS2
Develop safe, controlled and tactically aware hockey players with seven progressive lessons for Years 5–6.
Pupils learn to dribble, control and protect the ball using a safe grip and the flat side of the stick. The scheme develops push passing and block receiving, overloads and support angles, connected team defence, controlled shooting, transition and counterattacking. Learning concludes with competition and assessment.
Every lesson contains a detailed written plan and matching visual infographic. Curriculum guidance, technical vocabulary, equipment, spacing, safety rules, Know and Show outcomes, AfL, Head–Heart–Hands assessment, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL strategies and Plan–Monitor–Reflect prompts are provided.
The scheme carefully connects individual stick skills with team tactics. Explicit safety expectations, low-ball techniques and adaptable playing areas make it suitable for confident players and pupils experiencing hockey for the first time.
