The American rotorcraft company Bell Helicopter developed and produced the Bell AH-1 Cobra, a single-engined attack helicopter. The AH-1, a well-known Huey family member, is also known as the HueyCobra or Snake.
The United States Army's requirements for an intermediate gunship during the Vietnam War led to the fast development of the AH-1. The Bell UH-1 Iroquois's engine, transmission, and rotor system, which had already shown to be a reliable platform throughout the combat, were all retained, but it also included a newly designed narrow fuselage among other improvements.
