Look at Me Again” is a call for Black men and Black women to see each other beyond the stereotypes, disappointments, assumptions, and distorted images that have too often shaped how we view one another. It isn't a song about who we should love or choose. It's about something more fundamental—**respect.**

We ask the world for justice and fairness, but we must be willing to offer those same things to each other. That means resisting the rush to judgment, giving truth enough time to reveal itself, and recognizing when we have begun repeating—or even performing—the very caricatures we resent.

Our children are watching. They hear how we speak about one another, and from us, they are learning how to see Black men, Black women, and ultimately themselves.

“Look at Me Again” asks us to put down somebody else's script and value what belongs to us—our culture, our families, our communities, and each other. We can disagree. We can hold one another accountable. We can walk different roads. But we don't have to become enemies in the process.

**Before you make me what they said I was—look at me again.

And before I make you what they said you were—I'll look at you again.
