We Got Each Other is a declaration of collective determination—a reminder that pressure need not produce desperation. Sometimes pressure makes people reach for one another, organize, protect what matters, share what they know, and remember the strength of moving together.

The song draws from lessons carried forward by Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Curtis Mayfield, and Angela Davis: determination, strategy, readiness, and the courage to change what we refuse to accept. It recognizes that every struggle has rounds, and an unfinished fight should never be mistaken for defeat. No, baby. The bell hasn’t rung yet.

At its heart is the village. Our children will not stand alone. Neither will our elders, our brothers, our sisters, or our neighbors. When one person needs a hand, another reaches. When one door closes, somebody knows another way. What might look like pressure from the outside can become coordination on the inside.

We Got Each Other is about refusing to let desperation write the ending. Because desperation grabs—but determination organizes. And when the alarm sounds, we already know where to look.

At each other.
