The Capacity Thermometer - A free tool : Print and screen versions

Our capacity moves. It rises and falls depending on what is happening around us and within us and this is true for everyone. The Capacity Thermometer offers a visual, way of checking in with where you are right now, without judgement.

Using a simple 0 to 10 scale running from full capacity through to overwhelm, this worksheet helps map what capacity can feel like at different points, and what might help at each stage. Space is included to notice what is asking something of capacity right now, across body, demands, relationships, and environment and senses.

This is not a resource about reaching a fixed goal of calm. It is an invitation to notice where you are, and to meet that place with the same care you would offer someone you love.

What is included:

  • Printable A4 PDF resource and worksheet (2 pages)
  • The capacity thermometer, from full capacity to overwhelm
  • Structured space to map what each level can feel like, and what might help
  • A guided reflection on what is affecting capacity: body, demands, relationships, and environment and senses
  • A closing self-honouring reflection prompt

Suggested use:

  • Individual therapy
  • Stress and burnout work
