Winter Afternoon in the Woods
Winter Afternoon in the Woods
Original Pointillism Painting by Jim Pescott
Winter Afternoon in the Woods invites a moment of quiet — the feeling of standing among the trees on a winter afternoon, surrounded by snow, colour and filtered light.
Cool blues, lavenders and soft whites mingle across the snowy ground, while touches of yellow suggest winter sunlight finding its way through the woods. There is a sense of stillness in the forest, but also warmth and life in the colour.
The painting is created with layers of individual dots of acrylic colour. Rather than using hard lines to separate one shape from another, the dots mingle between the trees, snow and surrounding space. Tree becomes forest, forest becomes snow and light — all gradually coming together to create the image.
