gung hei faat choi! gōng xǐ fā cái! May you be prosperous!

This is a pattern for a cowl, worked in the round and using the stranded knitting technique.

In celebration of the new year - Wood Dragon is FREE, now through 24 February EST, with code:

LUNARbunny24

Please, place pattern in cart, enter code, see code was applied, click purchase. No refunds.

Stitches are cast on, rib is worked, chart is worked, the final rib is worked, and then all sts are bound off.

This pattern has sections with long floats, instructions for the Ladder-back/Invisible Jacquard technique, if needed (Page 6). The chart is large, so I have included the full chart and split the chart in half. I have also included reverse colour and facing of Dragon. You may also choose to make your cowl double layered.

yarn:

2 Ply Jumper Weight by Jamieson & Smith; Fingering; 100% Shetland; 125yds (115m)/ 25g

approximate yarn amounts (double yarn amounts if you are making a double layered cowl):

colour A - 35g ; 175yds / 161m

colour B - 40g ; 200yds / 184m

add 20g to colour A if you would like to work the top ‘cloud band’ (20g of colour A & B for doubled layer cowl)

needles:

2.5mm (us no 1.5) circular 20in / 51cm

3.0mm (us no 2.5) circular 20in / 51cm

gauge:

28 sts x 32 rows = 4in/10cm on larger needles and over stranded stockinette

Some knitters work stranded and single-colour stockinette at different gauges. Change needles, as needed, to keep gauge the same throughout.

approximate finished size:

10.5in/26.5cm (depth) x 21.5in/54.5cm (circumference)

You may make small adjustments to size by increasing needle size (this may affect your yarn amounts).

additional tools:

needle to weave in ends, stitch marker
