The English Chip is a work of original fiction in 16 chapters, about a student, ‘Charlie’. Charlie’s in Australia, studying English, but English is so hard. He just wants to have fun, not to study all day! Then he sees a notice: INSTANT ENGLISH! VOLUNTEER NEEDED.

Each chapter ends with a narrative hook. Over the course of the story, Charlie has to question his own decisions and values, and gets into more and more trouble, giving plenty of opportunity for discussion.
The story is told at ‘entering intermediate level’, and is aimed at adult and young adult learners. It would suit learners at strong A2 or B1 in the CEFR levels, or EAL3 in Australia.
