Comprehensive GREP Styles Analysis and Match Counter

GREP Styles Analysis is an Adobe InDesign script that audits the GREP styles defined inside your paragraph styles and reports how many times each one actually matches text in the document. Because GREP styles apply formatting automatically wherever a pattern matches, it can be hard to know which ones are pulling their weight — this script answers that by counting real matches for every expression.

It performs a context-aware search: each GREP expression is counted only within the paragraph style that owns it, mirroring how the style truly applies. Results are delivered as any combination of an on-screen summary, a formatted InDesign report document, and a plain-text file saved to the Desktop — with color coding that makes matches, empties, errors, and unused styles obvious at a glance.
