Betrayed
This is me at my most fed up. I wanted to write a raw, furious piece of political commentary that doesn't pull any punches when it comes to the corruption and deceit we see from those in power.
The lyrics are fueled by that sense of betrayal we all feel when "promises of change" turn out to be nothing but empty words. I really wanted to highlight the massive gap between the lavish lives the politicians lead and the daily grind of ordinary people just trying to get by. I used plenty of biting sarcasm to call out things like unfair taxation and the way the government seems to find endless money for war while ignoring the needs at home. It’s a defiant, and yeah, pretty profane rejection of the whole political establishment. I felt like being polite just wouldn't get the point across.
