Kidist
This song is deeply personal to me. It’s for Kidist, a girl who started as someone I was helping through my work but ended up becoming the daughter I never had. I wanted to trace her path through the lyrics—painting the vast, harsh landscapes of deserts and mountains she had to cross under those endless open skies just to find safety.
But more than the travel, it’s about the bond we built out of the blue. It’s about that life-changing moment she started calling me "Daddy" and we realized we’d become a family by choice. I wanted this track to be a testament to her bravery and a celebration of the fact that sometimes, the strongest bloodlines are the ones you build yourselves. It’s my way of telling her that no matter how long the journey was, she’s home now.
