Berhane

I wrote this for Berhane, a remarkable young man who has become like a son to me. His story started with an escape from unimaginable danger and hardship, and I’ve watched him navigate the move to a completely foreign land with more heart than I can describe.

This song is about the fire inside him—that unbreakable spirit and ambition that pushed him through every single obstacle. Seeing him go from those first days of total uncertainty to the success he’s earned today has been one of my proudest experiences. I wanted to capture his journey as a testament to what hope and perseverance actually look like in the real world. He’s built the brighter future he dreamed of, and I couldn't be more honored to have a front-row seat to his life.
