Greatest Lie
This song is a deep dive into how my head space around religion has shifted over the years. I wanted to be really honest about the journey—starting out not really caring one way or the other, then moving into a pretty firm atheism, and eventually finding that my views softened as I got older.
Even with that softening, I still wanted to challenge some things. The lyrics get into the flaws I see in organized religion and lean heavily into the idea of personal responsibility. I’ve always felt that at the end of the day, our actions are on us, not a higher power. I argue that sometimes leaning too hard on faith can actually act like a blindfold, keeping us from seeing the truth or living a life that’s truly fulfilling on our own terms. It’s about finding your own path and owning it.
