This one is deeply personal for me. It’s a look back at the early days when Paula and I were first together, and I wanted to capture the feeling of those idyllic summer afternoons we spent down on the beach.
I didn't want to paint a picture that was too perfect, though. The song acknowledges the real stuff—the arguments, the mistakes, and the less glamorous moments that every real relationship has to weather. But despite those rougher edges, "Sun Kissed Days" is really a celebration of what we found together. It’s about a love that has managed to last through every change in season and every year that's passed since those first days on the sand. It’s my way of saying that what we built was always worth the work.
