This song is for a guy I knew who was just about the most unlikely romantic lead you could imagine. He was twenty-two, pretty socially awkward, and struggling with a limited grasp of English, but he was also truly, madly, and deeply in love. Out of nowhere, this vibrant young woman crashed into his world and turned everything upside down.
I wanted to capture that initial spark—it was so intense that he started picturing a whole lifetime with her almost immediately. But the reality was that they were moving in completely different directions. While he was craving a stable, domestic life with her, she was a total free spirit who wasn't ready to be tied down to anything. It’s a song about that painful moment when you realize the person you've built a future for in your head is actually walking a different path entirely.
