Love To Hate Me
I wrote this one based on what I saw while working with troubled teenagers. There was one young man in particular who was caught in this incredibly messy, tumultuous relationship, and watching him try to navigate it was heartbreaking. I wanted to capture that exhaustion of being tied to someone who is as manipulative as they are captivating.
The song is all about those clashing emotions—that "push and pull" where you’re repulsed by how someone treats you, but you’re still hooked on the person you thought they were. I used a lot of contrasting melodies to mirror that internal struggle. Ultimately, it’s about that desperate craving for liberation and the pure confusion of loving someone who seems to thrive on making you miserable.
