TME Intermediate Striking and Fielding Years 5–6 | Ages 9–11 | Upper KS2

Teach both rounders and cricket through eight progressive Striking and Fielding lessons for Years 5–6.

Pupils develop catching, the long barrier and accurate returns before exploring rounders field placement and decision-making. They learn rounders batting, bowling and running, then apply tactics and officiating in modified games. The cricket section develops bowling action, line and length, straight-bat technique, placement, purposeful running and field setting. A final festival supports assessment, adaptation and pupil leadership.

Every lesson includes a detailed written plan and matching visual infographic. Curriculum guidance, vocabulary, equipment, safety, Know and Show outcomes, Head–Heart–Hands assessment, AfL, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL support and Plan–Monitor–Reflect prompts are included.

Covering two game families helps pupils transfer catching, throwing, striking and tactical knowledge while understanding their different rules and roles.
