Year 9 Electricity Assessment Pack (school licence)
A complete assessment package for Year 9 Electricity in the New Zealand Curriculum (Science, Phase 4, Matter Interactions and Energy). It judges each student from every angle: what you see at the bench, what they say, what they write and what they score. All of it is marked against the same five progress descriptors, Emerging to Exceeding.
What's included:
- Teacher guide: what each descriptor looks like for every knowledge and practice statement, an evidence map, when to use each piece through the unit, and how to make a best-fit judgement.
- Observation: three practicals, each with teacher notes, a safety briefing to read out and an observation checklist, and a six-station practical skills check with a student booklet and station signs.
- Conversation: four prompt cards of questions to ask at the bench, and a self-assessment checklist with an example question and worked answer at every level for all eight sections.
- Student work: eight exit tickets (two to a sheet) with teacher keys; four homework tasks with answers; a resistance investigation with teacher notes, a student sheet and a rubric; and a research task, Powering Aotearoa, with a planning sheet, a source log, a rubric and teacher notes.
- Tests: a practice test and end-of-unit tests A and B, 50 minutes each, as Word files with a box for your school logo, your school name and a date line, plus print-ready PDFs. The marking schedules give the descriptor for every mark, with cut scores on the last page.
- Evidence tracker: a worked example, a sheet for each student and a class overview.
Every document comes as an editable Word file and a print-ready PDF, in a colour edition and a black-and-white edition for photocopying: 22 documents and 126 pages in each.
Free updates: if the Ministry publishes science progress descriptors, you'll get the updated pack free.
Want a look first? The free sample pages show one example of every piece.
School licence: every teacher and student at one school may use and copy these files, including on your school's learning platform. Please don't share them outside your school.
