Clapton’s rhythm tone here was a very vintage one. The sound was just the effect of the loud amp delivering the distortion and mic placement and room ambience gave the reverb and EQ.
Later in the video are demos with 8 pickup configurations and with a cool rock riff example.
Audio is a direct recorded Strat with Fender Tex-Mex pickups: Neck pickup demo first, then other.
NOTES:My goal is not to use the exact simulations of effects, amps etc. that the artist would use, but to get closest to the tone (even using the effects in an unusual way).
