A Set of Thistles: hat, mittens/muffatees, cowl pattern

This pattern includes instructions to work a knitted pair of mittens (with notes to work muffatees), hat, and cowl using the stranded colourwork technique. All are worked from the bottom up and in the round.

gauge:

MITTENS

32 (30, 28) sts x 34 (32, 30) rows = 4in/10cm measured over stranded stockinette on 2.25 (2.5, 2.75) mm needles

HAT & COWL

26 sts x 26 rows = 4in/10cm measured over stranded stockinette on 3.25mm needles

Some knitters work stranded and single-coloured at different gauges. Change needles, as needed, to keep stitch gauge the same throughout.

palm circumference - 6.75 (7.5, 8) in / 17.5 (18.5, 20) cm

You may adjust finished size slightly by going up or down needles sizes.

HAT

20.25in / 51.5cm circ to fit approximately 21 - 23 in / 53cm - 58.5 cm head
