Songwriteam - I'm on my own

This song was written in July 2023 in Bessan, a small town near Cap d'Agde in the south of France, in a superb villa that we had rented.

The text was inspired by a quote attributed to Charles Bukowski

And when nobody wakes you up in the morning, and when nobody waits for you at night, and when you can do whatever you want. what do you call it, freedom or loneliness?

In the morning light, I wake alone

No one beside me, in this empty home

With no one to answer to

So here I stand, in this delicate dance

I've learned to sing to my own melody

To find solace in the depths of my reverie

Am I truly free, or does a part of me cry?

Is this my chosen journey or a solitary flight

Is it freedom I've found, or just loneliness grown?

Is it freedom I'm feeling, or is loneliness my home ?

I'm on my own

When the sunrise is silent, and the stars are my guide,

Do I dance in freedom or linger in a tide?

No hand to hold tightly, no shadows to chase,

just my footsteps to follow, my own steady pace.
