How to Homeschool Class

Homeschool Record Keeping and Test Taking

Join me as I explain how I keep daily and yearly homeschool records for my kids. I will help you devise a plan for your own record keeping depending on your needs. I will also share our experience with standardized testing, if there is interest. I'll do my best to answer all your questions.

Record Keeping and Test Taking

Keeping records of your child's work is one of the most important, yet daunting, tasks for a homeschool parent. I want to help you devise a plan for record keeping and answer your questions. I will also go over standardized testing for homeschoolers, if any participant would like more information on this.

I keep records on everything so that when my son applies for various opportunities and ultimately college, I'll be ready. I'll show you what that looks like and share what I've learned from my research into what we need for various applications.

What I'll show you in this class:

  • My quick chart of daily activities.
  • Various ways I've kept track of what we're doing...there's no right or wrong way. You have to find what works for you.
  • The yearly portfolio I keep for each of my students.
  • The yearly progress reports I write up.
  • Standardized testing and other ways to show how your student is making progress.

We can chat by email or video chat, but I can't guarantee that I will be available to talk online. I'm happy to do this for FREE for one person or for groups, but if you'd like to make a donation, you can do that here. Contact me with any questions.

Please let me know what other homeschool related questions you have, and I can create sessions for those topics as well. Contact me.

About Shelli and her Family

I’m a homeschool mom living in Georgia, U.S.A., and I write the blog mamaofletters.com. I’m also the former senior editor of home/school/life magazine. Though we are not unschoolers, we are very child-centered and child-led. I have used project-based homeschooling techniques and a variety of resources to teach my boys a typical course of study, but we have not followed the same strategies or “milestones” that a traditional public school would require.

As a family, we love nature and science, and we watch documentaries almost everyday. We also love music. My eldest son is a serious classical musician who plays the piano, and he’s preparing to compete on an international level someday. My younger son plays the cello, and he has been interested in birds since he was four-years-old. He’s turned us all into birders. You can learn more about our homeschool here and more about me here.

I get a lot of joy out of sharing the work I've done and reassuring parents who are exploring different educational paths for their kids. Please let me know how I can help you.
