This title came from the opening lines of the national anthem of my island home, “Sarnia Cherie, gem of the sea” On a lovely summer’s day, the sea shines like it is made of diamonds, so I married together diamond gansey patterns with baby cables as a nod to our maritime heritage.
The diamond shapes down the sides of the sock are reminiscent of the “clocks” found on fancy stockings in the Georgian era.
