Jewel Stars QAYG Quilt Pattern

This fabulous quilt is made using a simple foundation paper-piecing technique to create half-square triangle blocks which are sewn together to make the Eight-Pointed Star and Ohio Star blocks. These are then quilted individually and sewn together using a simple quilt-as-you-go method. You can use either 24 fat quarters as in the multi-coloured version, or 12 half metres, as in the yellow and turquoise version.

You will need:

• Depending on choice of layout, you will need either 24 fat quarters or 12 half-metres in co-ordinating fabrics - instructions include layouts and cutting for both

• 60cm of a contrasting solid or blender for the sashing and binding

• Photocopies of the foundation paper-piecing templates (included) - you will need to make 18 copies Template A and Template B

• 3m of backing fabric - this will be cut up into 24 fat quarters so you could use a mixture of fabrics, three co-ordinating fabrics, or the same one throughout.

• 50cm of a contrasting solid or blender for the back joining strips

• 1.5m of 90" wide wadding

• Quilter's Masking Tape

Finished size: Approx. 48" x 64"

IMPORTANT: This pattern assumes the reader has the knowledge to baste, quilt and bind the runner. However for those of you new to quilting I have added some tutorials on this on my website in the Beginner's Quilt Section.

To ensure you are printing your HST templates at 100%, check that the box on the page measures 1" square, if it does not, adjust your printing settings to suit, and make sure the 'fit to page' option isn't ticked. Don't worry that only the top half of the 1" box fits on the page, as long as it measures 1" wide, the scale will be fine.
