Uthman bin Affan: Friend of the Prophet Muhammad SAW who was respected by angels
Uthman was known as the most honest, humble and very shy friend. Even if he was taking a shower in a closed bathroom, he didn't dare straighten his back because he was so embarrassed.
The Prophet's wife, Aisyah, once said to the Prophet, "Why when you met Abu Bakr and Umar bin Khattab did you act normal and didn't pay any special attention. However, when you met Uthman, you continued to sit and adjust your clothes. Why?"
Rasullullah replied, "Am I not ashamed of a person whom even angels are ashamed of?" Shyness is part of faith. Shyness causes nothing but goodness.
Uthman bin Affan is also known to be very generous. He did not hesitate to spend 200,000 dirhams or the equivalent of two and a half kg of gold to buy a well.
The well had very clear water belonging to a Jew. After purchasing the well, he donated it for public purposes.
Apart from that, he once bought land to expand a mosque in Medina. During the Tabuk war, he donated 1,000 camels, 70 horses and 1,000 dirhams.
He was also recorded as donating wheat carried by 1,000 camels to help the poor who were starving in the dry season.
Uthman was the third caliphaturrasyidin after Caliph Abu Bakar and Caliph Umar bin Khattab. He served as caliph for 12 years. He died at the age of 82 years.
