Kenosha Dickie

The Kenosha Dickie & Hat showcase an innovative Woven Knitting technique creating an incredibly warm fabric from fingering weight yarns. This method uses two yarns held in a marl, simultaneously working a dense layer of cables overtop a squishy layer of garter stitch background!

This Dickie is created in three pieces. The front and back panels are worked flat and joined together at the shoulders. German Short Rows are used for the shoulders. Stitches for the collar are picked up and worked in the round.

The tutorials will guide you on your Woven Knitting journey. The 6 stitch/ 8 row repeat makes this project enjoyable and rewarding.

If you plan to make both the Kenosha Dickie and Hat, start with the Hat. You will need two skeins of each colour; however, the smallest sizes of can be made with one skein of each colour by using different colours for the edges of the Dickie and the hat brim.

Yarn: fingering weight yarn in 2 colours

Needles: 4.5 mm/ US #7, straight or circular for front and back panels; 16 in/ 40 cm circular needles for collar

Listed Yarn Gauge: 28 sts/ 36 rows to 4 in/ 10 cm

Pattern Gauge: 39 sts/ 29 rows in 4 in/ 10 cm

Yarn Usage: MC: 315 (390, 480, 530) yd/ 290 (355, 440, 485) m; CC: 250 (320, 405, 445) yd/ 230 (290, 370, 410) m

Recommended Yarn: West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite 4 ply
