Composed by Ted Fio Rito and lyrics by Gus Kahn, "I Never Knew" had been a popular jazz tune since its inception in the 1920s. However, it was Burrell's interpretation that breathed new life into the composition, infusing it with his trademark blend of elegance, groove, and improvisational brilliance.
