Psychological Astrology Tips, Tools and Techniques
This book contains more of my approach to astrology with some wicked techniques to better understand your own chart and that of others. I have used both Placidus and Whole Sign house systems because some people don't like using Whole Sign exclusively.
I have tried to get down to the bare bones of astrological calculations by including the Progressions. These are Solar Arc Directions and Secondary Progressed Moon. They do have day-for-a-year calculations and they can be calculated on your computer. I don't think there are computers or software these days that don't do them. Although I don't use progressions very much these days they still hold weight and carry valuable information albeit it is internal and therefore not really visible in the outside world. In other words it is felt rather than seen.
There is a fair bit of love in here too, with progressions, composite charts, synastry charts and an explanation of co-dependency. Co-dependency cannot be fixed with astrology, you need to see a therapist for that - but it can be fixed, I've see it. There's also Romantic Love, ah, that's the love of your life. I don't actually believe in the fixed nature of a 'love made in heaven' or 'soul mates', they doesn't really exist, but love in itself does. Love, yes, humans love to be in love, but there are like six kinds of love, so which is it going to be for you?
You'll also find something on transits which is critical for astrology. Plus there is some material on Michel Gauquelin and his findings on how astrology matches family. You can do your own charts of your own family too, check him out and see what you find. There's a little on Carl Jung too, he pops up now and then in astrology. Did you know that he studied astrology quite extensively? Yep, he did a lot of charts for his clients but never wrote about it, not in his diaries and definitely not in his articles for the psychology profession. He was terrified of being ridiculed by his professional peers, and so he should have been, they are nasty so and sos. If they could take him down then his books would never be read and his extensive knowledge lost.
I've often been criticised for not putting enough psychology into my work, and I am a psychologist too. The reason being that no two charts are the same. You can have the chart of a serial killer but be just a normal person living a normal life. So I've included three psychological disorders for those who want more – but remember, no two charts are the same.
Finally I finish with a little on personal myths, those little dreams we have, and on defences. These came from Sigmund Freud and are wonderful guides to the intricacies of astrology, magic and psychodynamic theory.
This volume is a good mixture of practical and theoretical knowledge gained from my 70 odd years of life. I think I've a few more books in me so keep your eyes peeled and feel free to email and ask me questions when you get stuck. In the meantime, good luck with your studies, and enjoy the first two chapters, they are excellent.
