Friendship

I designed this for a very dear friend. The diamonds at the top are because her friendship is more valuable to me than gemstones, the hearts are for love, and the semi-circles in the border are the hugs that I give her long distance because she lives more than 1,000 miles away.

Shawl starts at the center top with a tab cast on, and grows out and down from there.

• Yarn: lace weight: 800 yards; cobweb weight: 1300 yards.
• Models: Zephyr Wool-Silk, Plum, 50/50 silk/merino, 5040 yards in 454 grams; OR Yarn Place Gentle in Deep Ruby, 95% merino; 5% cashmere, 690 yards in 50 grams.
• Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm).
• Crochet hooks: US E (3.5 mm) for provisional cast on; US 13 (.85 mm) to fit through hole in bead (optional).
• Beads: 11 [20] grams 8/0 seed beads.
• Finished size: 76 x 36 inches [106 x 55 inches].
