Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty is a beloved fairytale about Princess Aurora, who is cursed at her christening by an evil fairy omitted from the guest list. The curse dictates that on her sixteenth birthday, the princess will prick her finger on a spinning wheel spindle and die. Fortunately, a good fairy weakens the curse so that instead of death, Aurora and the entire kingdom fall into a deep sleep lasting one hundred years.

Hidden away in the forest to protect her, Aurora grows into a kind and beautiful young woman, but the prophecy inevitably fulfills itself. As a thick forest of thorns grows around the sleeping castle, a brave prince learns of the legend, braves the wilderness (and, in many versions, slays a formidable dragon), and awakens Princess Aurora with a kiss of true love, breaking the spell and restoring the kingdom.
