The splits have always been a popular "trick" in dance training and performance. Particularly becoming more desirable when taking inspiration from TV shows such as The Greatest Dancer. The splits are also one of the fundamental skills in acro dance. As well as being aesthetically pleasing to look at, having a technically sound split can enhance a lot of other acro skills. A full front split will aid in completing a fluid front walkover, a flying walkover and a front aerial. A full centre split is one of the key elements to strive for when cartwheeling and will help greatly when training for a side aerial.
