Jacob's Ladder

By Kimani Upshur, M.Ed.

Jacob is running away - alone and tired, with nothing but a stone for a pillow - when God meets him in a dream: a ladder reaching to heaven, angels going up and down, and promises too many to count, like the dust of the earth. In ten chapters, children follow Jacob from fear to wonder as he hears the words that change everything: "I am with you." This faithful paraphrase of Genesis 28 shows young readers that God finds runaways, keeps His promises, and is nearer than we think.
