You are purchasing admission and handouts for a virtual class that takes place via Zoom.

Wednesday, March 18
5-7pm Pacific Time; 6pm Mountain Time, 7pm Central, 8pm Eastern time
Class will be recorded and the recording will be available for 30 days afterwards.

The class includes the Bloomlings Hat pattern, the price of which has been added to your class fee at a discount. The pattern includes sizes for humans of all ages, so you can happily work these to fit your whole family.

In this class we'll put Ladderback Jacquard into practice as we begin knitting the Bloomlings baby hat. We'll work through the in-project application of setting up ladders, deciding on placement, knitting them on subsequent rows, and closing them off when we don't need them anymore. We'll explore best practices for charting, comparing examples of charted-in ladder instructions to those we add for ourselves. You'll make project-based choices about moving ladders and see when this is a useful tool in our projects. By the end of class you'll not only be on your way to having an adorable hat, you'll easily envision how to bring this technique into any stranded knitting pattern.

This class is suitable for those who have worked Ladderback Jacquard before and are excited to play with it in a project-based class. If you are brand-new to Ladderback Jacquard, I recommend first taking my Ladderback Jacquard for Stranded Knitting class February 7, or viewing purchasing and working along with the class recording from an earlier offering of that class.

Supplies:
Two or three colors of worsted-weight yarn (non-superwash is preferred but not required) as follows:
·      60 yds of Main Color
·      30 yds of Contrast Color (for a two-color hat) OR 20 yds of CC1 and 10 yds of CC2 (for a three-color hat)

Size 7 US 16" circular needle or needle with which you can achieve a gauge of approximately 20 sts/4" in stockinette st; Size 6 US 16" circular needle or needle one size smaller than previous; stitch marker, tapestry needle.
For finishing the hat, US Size 7 dpns or long circular needle will be needed for the crown, but will not be used in class.

Homework: Cast on 60 stitches with your contrast color yarn (or CC1 if you are working in three colors) onto your smaller needle. Place marker and join to work in the round. With the same color, knit 4 rounds of k3, p3 ribbing. At the beginning of class we will begin working with our Size 7 needle.

Level:
Advanced — Students should already be comfortable with the basics of ladderback jacquard, knitting stranded colorwork, working at a small circumference in the round, and working increases and decreases.

Day and Time: Class takes place Wednesday, March 18 from 5-7pm Pacific Time (6pm Mountain Time, 7pm Central, 8pm Eastern time)

You will receive the class handout, Bloomlings hat pattern, and Zoom access info immediately upon purchasing the class, both on the website and in your email inbox. Please save the handout, pattern, and link somewhere accessible. If you don't see these in your email inbox, please check your spam filter and then reach out to me at deviousknitter@gmail.com.

I record each virtual class session and make the recording available to registered participants for 30 days after the date of the class, so if something prevents you from attending, you will still have access to the class recording and all materials.
