Hollywood and Vine
Hollywood and Vine is created through cables, twisted stitches, leaves, and a lifted yarnover knot stitch. It is elegant, light, and warm. Large enough to use as a wrap or even as a lap blanket.
Skills Needed: YO, kfb, pfb, and kpk increases and ssk, k2tog and sl1-k2tog-psso decreases, using cable needle. Instructions for cables are provided. Shawl instructions are provided as charts or line-by-line written instructions.
Finished Measurements: 65.5 in. [166.5 cm] wingspan), 47 in. [119.5 cm] along edges, 40 in. [101.5 cm] height.
Yarn: 5 skeins Malabrigo Arroyo (DK/Sport; 100% Superwash Merino; 335 yds /100 g] in Chircas.
Needles: US size 5 [3.75 mm] 40 in. [100 cm] or 60 in. [150 cm] circular needle for main part of shawl.
2 (two) US size 6 [4.0 mm] 40 in. [100 cm] or 60 in. [150 cm] circular needles for knitted-on border.
Gauge (after soaking and blocking): 20 sts and 34 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Leaf & Vine Motif (begins on pg. 4 and charted on pg. 14). Gauge does not matter greatly; of importance is that you like the appearance and density of the fabric.
Other Materials: 24 stitch markers, cable needle, tapestry needle, highlighter tape (optional), blocking pins or wires, blocking mats, wool wash, large tassel maker (optional; there are also many online tutorials using household materials in the creation of tassels).
