TME Advanced Contact Rugby – Complete Years 7–9 Scheme of Learning
Teach contact rugby safely, progressively and confidently with 14 carefully structured lessons for Years 7–9. Pupils develop passing, receiving, evasive running, support play, ball presentation, defensive alignment and continuity while learning the principles of safe and responsible contact.
The scheme introduces and develops side and front tackling through controlled, clearly organised practices before applying these techniques within conditioned games. Pupils learn to make decisions around space, support, pressure and defensive organisation.
Every lesson contains explicit safety guidance, detailed activity set-up, equipment, measurements, groupings and technical teaching points. STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL strategies, visual lesson infographics, Head–Heart–Hands assessment and Assessment for Learning are embedded throughout. Plan–Monitor–Reflect questions and purposeful oracy prompts help pupils discuss risk, justify tactical decisions and evaluate team performance.
